Very few places on Earth don’t have trash. If you’re in a survival situation and have water available, being able to make fish hooks can mean the difference between eating bugs and eating yumminess.
All you have to do is cut two cuts into one side. One just past the inside loop (so you still have a loop) and one about 1/3 of way down the side, keeping the angle as sharp up the side as you can. The key is to keep a little lip on the inside of this point to make a catch so the hook sets. This is where you’ll set your bait.
If you don’t happen to have an emergency fishing kit available, you start a field-expedient one. Fish hooks just need to be fairly sturdy, have a place to loop the line to it, and have a sharp hook that’ll catch when they bite the bait. If you can find some soda cans, you can pull of the tops and sharpen them like in the picture.

Hey,
I found your site on pinzerest and it has been a great read so far.
WhereI am living fishing and hunting is not considered a usual thing to do.
So it is nt easy to obtain gear.
But of course we have some trash as you mentioned.
I’m not a prepper per se but an outdoor person and generally interested in ways to cheaply redesign stuff I get easily into stuff that might not be aesily available.
So this really is great.
