Graywolf Survival Level IIIa EnGarde body armor giveaway (ENDED)

A random winner will be chosen after all entries are tallied up

Contest has ended.

Engarde-Body-Armor-1[1]EnGarde Level III-a plus body armor giveaway

Congratulations to Drew Mitchell.

I’ll be having more giveaways soon.

If you’ve read my article on whether preppers should have body armor, you know my thoughts on the subject.

How would you like to have your own set of level III-a body armor? I keep mine as a just-in-case thing to grab if I hear something go bump in the night. If you’re a prepper, you know there could be many reasons why you might want a set.

Well, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve finally moved to a great server with WPEngine so this site can now handle a LOT more traffic. Because of that, I’m now ready to reach out to more people than I ever could before. For those who’ve followed me since I started this site on my last deployment to Afghanistan, you’ve seen how much faster this site is this past week. Please let people know about graywolfsurvival.com. It’s a super-awesome site. They’ll sing your praises for generations to come if you do.

So… in order to get the word out about my site, I have a brand-new set of level IIIa body armor from EnGarde to give away. If you’d like information as to what exactly level IIIa means, this NIJ Guide 100-01 goes through body armor in detail. IIIa armor is on page 35.

Obviously, you have to be eligible to receive the armor before I can send it to you. More on that later.

I know some of you will have questions. As I get them, I’ll update this post in case others have the same question.

…and I won’t be sharing your information with anyone so the only emails you’d get would be from my newsletter if you sign up for that – except an email from me if you won.

What kind of armor is this?

This armor is a size Large. It’s the only size I have and I can’t change that. Luckily it has velcro adjustments on it so it fits a lot of people. It also only comes in blue. It’s a very sexy blue though. Much bluer than this photo shows.

Here’s a photo of the front:

Here’s the back:

If you want some pretty pics of someone wearing this armor, the current EnGarde Patrol version looks almost exactly like it. In addition to the Dyneema padding (kinda like kevlar but different) in the front and back, there are also plate carrier pockets front and back if you really want to upgrade your protection. It also has a generous amount of handy-dandy velcro front and back that you can connect things to.

Here’s a pic of one of the armor plate carrier pouches:

I tried this on just to see how it fits. It’s definitely more comfortable than most vests I’ve worn. Because of the design, you’d have to wear fairly stiff clothing over it in order to conceal it. Much easier in the Wintertime.

The panels are constructed from Dyneema SB-21.

Here’s a pic of what the Dyneema panels look like, halfway pulled out of the pouch:

The armor also comes with a travel pouch:

According to EnGarde, the panels in this set are similar to the ULTRA-IIIa panels they currently sell, and “will keep their ballistic properties for at least 10 years if treated well/normal.”

Here’s what EnGarde says about their ULTRA-IIIa panels:

ENGARDEIIIA-ULTRA
Exceptional performance and superior comfort

The ultra thin and flexible ENGARDEIIIA-ULTRA™ ballistic panel consists of layers of Dyneema® combined with the latest Twaron Trauma Reduction Technolgy. The ENGARDEIIIA-ULTRA™ panel has been rigorously tested by independent testing laboratories and is compliant with the latest NIJ Level IIIA performance standards. This latest NIJ standard 0101.06 is even more demanding than the previous NIJ standard 0101.04 and includes the .357 SIG FMJ-FN threat.

EnGarde has also successfully tested the ENGARDEIIIA-ULTRA™ panel according to the ballistic requirements of German Schutzklasse 1 TR03/2008, including the 0-meter distance (contact shot) tests.

ENGARDEIIIA-ULTRA™ is an enhanced version of the ULTRA-06™ model launched in 2012. The durability of the pure Dyneema® ULTRA™ series armor allows us to provide a ten year warranty on the ballistic performance of this model.

How to win the armor

You need to enter by midnight, Sunday, 8 December 2013. A winner will be chosen after that. The deadline for entries has passed.

First: please read this sentence: YOU MUST POST A COMMENT ON THIS PAGE THAT YOU ARE READING RIGHT NOW IF YOU WANT TO WIN. Please tell me there if you liked the facebook page, signed up for the newsletter, or both. this is important.

Here’s how…

So here’s all you have to do be put in the random drawing. There are two ways to enter (A or B), just don’t forget to do step C or I won’t be able to enter you: The deadlines for entries has passed.

  • A) Go to my facebook page and Like it. And by Like it, I don’t just mean like it, because of course you’ll like it. I mean hit the ‘Like’ button. If you’ve already liked it before (with the button) – you’re good! I’ll need to know what your facebook page is so either leave it in the comment below or just mention below that you’re sending me an email with your facebook page in it (or I won’t be able to contact you if you win).
  • B) Sign up for my newsletter using the form at the top left of this page or this link. If you’re already signed up – you’re good! Just make sure that when you sign up for the newsletter that you then check your email to verify it. Sometimes this verification goes to your spam box on accident so check there if you don’t see it. Email me if you don’t get the verification email and I’ll put it in manually for you.
  • C) Once you’ve done either of those, leave a comment below letting me know which you’ve done. If you do both – let me know in the comments below and I’ll put you in twice! Because a lot of people spam blogs, I check each comment before it shows up.

Please make sure you are commenting below on this page that you are reading right now. Make sure you tell me if you did the facebook page, newsletter, or both so I don’t miss counting you the correct number of times. The winner will be chosen from the list of people who are on this page.

A random person will be chosen from the comments below. That person will then be verified to make sure I can reach them by email or facebook (make sure your facebook settings let me message you).

Once a winner is chosen in the comments below and verified, I’ll contact that person using either the email address given in the newsletter form (don’t forget to check your email when you sign up to verify it), or send you a message on your facebook – or both if you do both. If I don’t hear back from the winner within 48 hours, that person is no longer the winner and another one will be chosen.

If you have friends or family that would be interested – make sure you let them know about this. Just remember: like my facebook page and let me know what yours is, or sign up for the newsletter. In either (or both) case, let me know in the comments below.

Legal stuff

Just a couple of quick notes of legal-y kind of stuff that I have to bring up.

This is a sweepstakes, not a contest. A winner will be chosen randomly. Those who both like the facebook page and sign up for the newsletter will have two entries into the random drawing.

Your odds will depend on how many entries there are before the drawing.

Unfortunately, due to ITAR regulations, I’m only allowed to give this to US citizens. Don’t get me wrong, I realize a lot of you aren’t from the US but I’ll have other giveaways that I’ll be able to include you in on. I looked into this a LOT and there’s just no feasible way to do this at this time. That doesn’t mean I don’t love you.

I can’t ship to a P.O. box. It has to go fedex to your home or business. You’ll have to sign for it when it comes in.

You can’t be related to me. Sorry. It’s already awesome enough for you if you are so don’t whine.

Also, due to the crazy laws that some states in the US have, some of you won’t be allowed to own it, so I won’t be able to send it to you. Here’s some information to help you determine whether you’re eligible to receive this body armor but you’re going to have to check all your local laws to make sure it’s all kosher.

If for whatever reason the law says you’re ineligible then I can’t help. Get in touch with your friends and have your local laws changed. There is no replacement prize for this. Even if your name is chosen and it’s found out before it’s shipped.

If you don’t leave me a way to contact you by facebook or email, I can’t contact you. In this case, the prize will go to the next person.

You need to be old enough to win and that depends on your local laws. Definitely over 18 though.

If you live in Connecticut, you’ll have to be military or police to own body armor. There are other places that feel this way as well. Check into it if you want to win.

If you’re a convicted felon, you can’t own body armor. See code section 931 for details.

If there’s any other reason you’re not allowed to either own body armor or have it shipped to you, you cannot win. Sorry.

If your state requires that you be police or military, you’ll have to provide proof before I can ship it to you if you win.

If you’re chosen as the winner and it’s found that you’re not allowed to own the armor, unfortunately you won’t be eligible and another person will be chosen.

If requested, the winner’s name will be withheld. All contact information for the winner will be held confidential – the only exception being a legal subpoena.

Basically, it comes down to this:

YOU MUST FIND OUT IF YOU ARE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE THIS BODY ARMOR BEFORE YOU SIGN UP TO WIN

Oh, and I almost forgot. This poster also comes with it. BTW, I look like him when I’m you’re drinking:

engarde poster

If you have any questions, you can ask them by email or on facebook.

Good luck!

PS: You can share this with people by using the social links right below this sentence, where it says, “please share this page.”

  15. K SSGCasper says

Liked on Facebook for a while now and subscribed to news letter…

  16. I liked and signed up for your newsletter. Are active Military eligible? I’m stationed on JBLM.

    • graywolfsurvival says

Thanks for your service Joe. My younger brother was born on JBLM.

Active military is certainly eligible in almost all cases. I don’t think WA has any laws against anyone owning body armor other than convicted felons. If you’re the winner, I’ll definitely do everything I can to make sure you can legally get it.

  17. liked on FB and registered for the newsletter…I think I’ve done both like 3 times each..lol>mistakenly, of course

  18. Jeremy Blanchard says

Did both. Hope I win. Anything more specific on what size a large is? Didn’t see it on their site….

    • graywolfsurvival says

It’s kind of a vague term. I wear an XL t-shirt so it barely touches front to back on the sides (I’m 5’7″ and about 195). It can be adjusted with the straps to fit different people. I would rather I had a little overlap but I’d have to get hit right where they meet for it not to help.

  19. I SUBSCRIBED! Wish me luck

  20. Liked you on Facebook and subscribed to the newsletter…

    • graywolfsurvival says

      Thank you Casper.

      • Confirmed my subscription twice, still keep getting messages that I need to confirm the newsletter subscription, even though I’ve been getting the newsletter. Just and FYI..

        • graywolfsurvival says

Hi Casper. Not sure why you weren’t confirmed the first time but whatever you did the second time worked. You’re in twice. Good luck.

  21. Liked on facistbook and subscribed and verified for news letter.

    • graywolfsurvival says

I will not be subscribing to your newsletter. I don’t like a lot of e-mail. I can add a rss-feed to my RSS-reader. Just don’t like e-mails that stack on top of eachother.
